Smoking

Quitting smoking is one of the most important factors of maintaining a long, healthy life. Unfortunately, for many, it is also one of the most difficult. The compulsion to smoke despite its well-known risks creates its own special brand of anxiety which often leads to an endless cycle of smoking. Hypnosis allows you to break that cycle by neutralizing the compulsion on the unconscious level, so that you perceive cigarettes for what they really are; a nicotine trap that ruins your lungs and poisons your body.

Withdrawal effects are greatly minimized with hypnosis. Symptoms are usually very slight, approximately the magnitude of a light cold, and only last a few days. If you could prevent yourself from getting lung cancer in the future by getting a slight cold now, would you do it? Of course you would! Give us a call and get ready to be tobacco-free for the rest of your life.

Weight

Being overweight is a special kind of problem; most people never, ever overcome it. Most people who are overweight try for decades to lose weight, only to eventually give up and blame their condition on genetics or other outside factors. This is unfortunate, because every single person can, and deserves to be, their ideal weight.

There are essentially four factors to weight loss. These are: if you eat for non-hunger reasons such as stress and boredom, what types of foods you eat, how much you eat, and the quality of your exercise habits. Hypnosis can changes what you like and what you want to do so that you naturally eat the right foods at the right times in the right amounts, and so that you look forward to and enjoy exercise as a normal part of your day. Give us a call and find out how we can help you reach your health and fitness goals once and for all.

Athletics

By now, it is widely known that athletics is a mental game. Anyone can learn the basic skills of a sport, but in competition, the mental edge is the edge that wins. Dr. Clayton has worked successfully with Olympic Gold medalist Tonique Darling, the American Girls’ All Star softball team, and countless other professional and amateur athletes and teams to maximize their sports performance.

Hypnosis can help you to eliminate fear, maximize motivation, and send you into the zone right when you need it, enabling you to break past any barriers you have and reach your true potential.

Stress

Stress affects the mind in much the same way that it affects a machine. It can handle a certain load, but if the load is too great for any significant amount of time, the machine begins to break down and have unexpected behaviors. Being able to properly manage stress is absolutely essential for living a healthy, comfortable life.

Hypnosis is the most direct and effective way of cycling stress out of your life. Whether your source of stress is business or personal (or more often, both), hypnosis can help you minimize, manage, and move on. You will never have a more relaxing, refreshing experience than a deep hypnosis session.

Anxiety

Anxiety plagues almost everyone in one form or another, and is the direct result of worrying about various aspects of life, such as relationships, career, or health. Having an anxiety-producing style of thinking about these topics creates a cycle that puts added stress on your mind with each loop.

There is nothing wrong with your brain; if ANYONE used that style of thinking, that person would also have anxiety. Hypnosis can break that cycle so that you think about those topics in a straightforward, solution-oriented way that produces a sense of confidence and motivation.

Phobias

Fear is a natural response to a negative perception of a stimulus. And while fear is sometimes useful, it very often gets in the way of leading a fun, productive life. A phobic perception of a thing or event is not true or false, or good or bad, it’s just how one learned, unconsciously, to perceive the event.

Hypnosis has the ability to reprogram such perceptions, so that your brain perceives the event in the way that most people do; as a harmless aspect of life that can be handled easily. Whether your fear is related to travelling, social situations, insects, or anything else, hypnosis can help you perceive that stimulus in a neutral, non-emotional, non-threatening way.

Memory

Memory has three different stages: sensory memory, which is the flash or echo of the last few seconds of information; short term memory, which is what you’re thinking about right now; and long term memory, where you store the information you’ll retrieve later. If, during either of those two transitions, the information is not stored successfully, the memory will be gone forever.

On the other hand, if you have a reliable, unconscious system for filtering all of the important incoming information through those stages, you will remember whatever you want, whenever you want, whether it’s someone’s name or where you left your keys, or large chunks of data like numbers or passwords. Hypnosis can help you create that system and use it automatically when the information needs to be stored.

Exams

There are essentially two roadblocks most people encounter related to testing: difficulties focusing during studying and anxiety related to testing. Hypnosis is, by far, the most effective way to deal with both of those problems.

Using hypnosis, you can go into the proper zone for learning as soon as you sit down to study. You can read material once and understand and retain it in the right state of mind. And once the material is learned effectively, you will retain it for as long as you wish with minimal effort.

Anxiety related to test taking is a direct result of your unconscious perception of the test. If the idea that you might fail is stuck in your mind, it will adversely affect your performance. Ironically, worrying about failing makes it more likely to happen. Hypnosis puts you in the right frame of mind so that you’re relaxed, confident, and know that you have done everything possible to prepare for the test.

Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is the fundamental trait that will determine your psychological well-being. Self-esteem is the lens through which you interpret all information coming in from the environment. Something bad happen? Your self-esteem will determine whether you blame yourself and give up, or see the event as a challenge to overcome. Something good happen? Your self-esteem will determine if you dismiss the event as a fluke, or see it as a natural reward for your hard work that motivates you to succeed even more.

Self-esteem is deeply planted in the unconscious mind, and traditional psychology is ill-equipped to correct self-esteem problems. Hypnosis can go into the unconscious mind and reprogram how you perceive yourself, so you value yourself and have confidence that you can meet your goals. And just as low self-esteem creates a self-fulfilling prophecy for failure, so does high self-esteem create a self-fulfilling prophecy for your success.

Motivation

Motivation is central to every positive behavioral change. Whether you want to get healthy, move up in your career, or have a great relationship, motivation is the fuel that will put your plan into action. If you don’t have that fuel, your best laid plans will go to waste.

Fortunately, motivation is not something you either have or don’t have; it’s something you produce by perceiving events in a certain way. When you think about something you already enjoy doing, you think about it in a certain way; it makes you feel good and you want to do more of it. That style of thinking can be applied to almost any activity through hypnosis, and the process happens more quickly and effectively than you might think.

Procrastination

I’ll write this one later.

Just kidding! If you perceive an event as tedious or unrewarding, your brain will come up with reasons not to do it; this is a basic and healthy function of the brain. But if there are tasks that need to be done or for which you want the results, it is beneficial to be able to reprogram how you perceive those tasks.

Take brushing your teeth, for example. If you were anything like me as a kid, you probably perceived brushing your teeth as a tedious chore. But as your perception of brushing your teeth changed, so did your motivation. Nowadays you probably brush your teeth without even thinking twice about it. What changed? Not the act of brushing your teeth; that stayed essentially the same. Your perception changed, and perception change is the primary strength of hypnosis.

Whether you have a project you haven’t gotten around to yet, or a health-related goal you’ve been putting off, or even an education or career move you’ve got your eye on, hypnosis can give you the energy and desire to meet that goal head on and succeed.

Focus

A difficulty focusing can present itself in one of two ways: through an inability to follow a task through to completion in one sitting, or through quitting long-term projects without ever finishing them. Being able to stay on task from beginning to end without your mind or attention wandering is a key skill that is helpful in every area of life, but especially in school and work environments.

If you find yourself having difficulty completing tasks efficiently (or at all), know that this is not because there is something wrong or inferior with your mind; it simply has not been programmed on the unconscious level to stay on one task for long. Through hypnosis, you will acquire the skill of going into the zone for starting, working on, and completing tasks so that you can comfortably and effectively finish what you start, whether that’s an assignment from work or school or a personal project. Hypnosis can help you start, stay on task, and finish successfully.
